The Austrian flag history is not drenched with blood, but it is actually inspired from the battle blood. Austria flag history has the oldest flag history, as it was adopted as the national flag of Austria in the 19th century. But its roots are stretched to the 12th century. The actual designed of the flag was made in 13th century when there was a rule of Duke of Austria, Frederick 2, from 1210 to 1246. This era was known as the “contentious Frederick era”. He was the last person from the Babenberg family. Frederick wanted to take independence from the emperor of the holy roman. He strived for this so much that he had adopted the Austria flag in 1230 with RED and White color in his ruling time, but the flag of Austria with red and white color did not approved as the country and national Austria flag for so long time. In 1806 the Austria Empire was established and later on Austria became a province of Nazi Germany in 1938. In the era when the Nazi Germany was combined with the Austria, the Austria’s flag was not used as a country flag until the Austria gained freedom from Nazi Germany in 1945. After gaining independence Austria came under the rule of Austria’s allies after the Second World War. When the Austria became independent entirely in 1955 then at that time Austria red and white flag flown as the country flag. The flag which is the national flag of Austria currently, it was first adopted on 27th April 1984.

The description of the flag of Austria is so simple; if someone asks that, what colors are in the flag of Austria its answer is very simply. There are simply two colors used on the Austrian flag.The flag is made in the ratio of 2:3. There is a tri-band of three horizontal strips of equal size. First the RED strip, then White strip and at last again RED strip. There is not specific emblem on the Austrian flag. Only three horizontal strips are there.

The meaning of the colors on the Austria flag is not related to the country people or any related thing. Its colors are taken or inspired from an old Duke thinking. It is true story that Austria flag was actually made-up by the Duke of Austria named Duke Leopold 5 (1157 to 1194). He was fighting a brutal battle in the period of crusades. When he was fighting there was a battle dress which he wore during the battle and after the blockade of acre, when he saw his dress it was fully drenched in blood. When he took off his battledress and the belt then he came to know that his dress under the battledress was clean and clear there was no blood on it. So after seeing his dress he adopted the RED and White color for his flag or banner for the later use. So later on, this color combination was used for the country flag of Austria.
