As it was under the British monarchy throughout therefore there was not that much changes or variations occurred in the Bahamas flag. There is not any blood-shed seen in the Bahamas flag history. Before the independence from British monarchy since 1783, the flag of Bahamas was changed in the current flag of the Bahamas. The Bahamas flag in the British rule contained a union jack which represents the British kingdom in Bahamas. In 1973, Bahamas become an independent country and gained independence from British monarchy but it was still a member of commonwealth nations.
When the Bahamas gained independence form British monarchy at that time the current Bahamas flag became a Bahamas national flag on 10th of July 1973. The Bahamas flag was approved by the coat of arms, two years before the Bahamas independence, on 7th of December 1971.
The first design of the Bahamian flag was little bit change in the respect of colors adjustment. Colors of the Bahamian flag was arranged in different order, means there was two strips of yellow colors at the outer portion while the aqua blue color strip was in the middle. But later on this color adjustment was refused and the current color adjustment was approved.
