Bangladesh Flag

The history of the Bangladesh flag is not so long. It is round about twenty to twenty five years back. As Bangladesh came into existence as a result of Pakistan’s partition which was a terrible time for both the Bangladeshi and the Pakistani people except some greedy politicians who want the powers. As a result of their greed, a happy and flourishing country was split into two. The Bangladeshi flag was came into existence and flown in the Dhaka college, by a group of mukti banies. These people were involved in illegal activities and were doing all the illegal things against West Pakistan under the guidance of some politicians. The Bangladeshi flag flown at that moment was not like the current flag of Bangladesh. At that time there was a Bangladesh map on the flag of Bangladesh. The first national flag of the Bangladesh was hoisted on 3rd March 1971 by student’s union of Dhaka University. This flag was designed by Quarrel Has an. The initial Bangladesh flag had a map of Bangladesh on the Bangladeshi flag but later on it was changed because there was a problem of two-sided flag. The image of the Bangladesh flag at one side was not the same on the other side and also it reminds the partition misery from Pakistan. Officially the flag of Bangladesh was first hoisted on 17th January 1972.

There is similarity between the Bangladesh flag and the Japan flag. As both have a red circle on the flag but the uncolored Bangladesh flag is different in the aspect of the flag background. The uncolored Bangladesh flag is almost same as the Japan flag. If we look at the Bangladesh flag outline, without green color then it looks exactly same like the Japan flag.

The description of the Bangladesh flag is very simple; it is made in the ratio of 3:5. The flag has two colors: RED and GREEN. The background of the Bangladesh flag is of green color and there is a circle drawn on the flag. This circle is drawn with red color slightly at the pole side of the flag so that when the flag will fly that red circle can be seen easily.

The flag of Bangladesh and its meaning is little bit controversial. Especially the green color on the flag has controversial meaning. The Bangladesh was split from Pakistan in very bad condition and the green color on most of the Muslim countries depicts the Muslim majority in the country. As the Bangladesh is a Muslim country, there are 80% Muslims in the country, so in this aspect most of the writers say that the green color on the Bangladesh flag depict the Muslims population in the country. At some extent it is true because there are majority of Muslims in the country. While some writers say that green color depicts the greenery and Bangladesh lushness. While the red color on the flag of Bangladesh and its meaning is same in many writers view that is: the red color is for the blood-shed of Bangladeshi people in the 1971 war against West Pakistan as a result of some politician’s greed.
