Confederate Flag

Many confederate states of America used the Confederate Flags, during 1861 and 1865. After the end of American Civil war, there was controversial in the official use of confederate flags and their derived flags. During Civil war many rebel countries, separated from the state and they desired to have their own separate flag to fly. Those flags are called rebel flags. Rebel flags are also known as confederate flags. The first confederate flag used in history is known as “Stars and Bars”. It was flown from 5th March 1861 to 26th May 1863. This very first confederate flag was designed by German-Prussian. The adoptation date of “Stars and Bars” flag is 4th March 1861. The first act of the provisional Confederate Congress is to create a flag, which is responsible for design of the flag and seal. The strong and popular proposal for the flag was given. This flag was very close in similarities to US National flag (Stars and Strips). But the approved flag was called flag of “Stars and Bars”. When the war started, the troops were confused, because of the similarities of rebel flag and US National Flag.

The rebel flag background consists of three different colored Horizontal bars. The “Stars and Bars” flag was replaced by another design of the rebel flag, which known as “the Stainless Banner” or second national flag. For designing the second national flag many designs were proposed and every design was nearly depicting the war or battle. The new design which was choosen to be adopted for the second national flag was decided to be a white field with the union to be a square of two-thirds of the width of the flag, with red base; with a broad saltier of blue, bordered with white color and five pointed stars. The inclusion of stars depicts the number of Confederate states. After a long speech dilivered by William Miles the white color was approved. It was the well-known rebel flag. It was also called the conferderate battle flag. The second confederate flag was confused with truce flag. So on March 4, 1865, third rebel flag was adopted. It was proposed by Major Arthur L. Rogers. Rogers succeed in the introduction of his new design for the Confederate flag, in the Cofederate Senate. He said that the design should have “Yankee blue as little as possible ", and described it as the primary origin of the people of the South, with the cross of Britain and the red bar from the flag of France.

The design was nearly similar to the previos design with a difference of adding a red vertical bar. Confederate flag history shows that it was the last design of the rebel flags.
