Croatia Flag

The history of Croatian flag is not so long. The Croatia gained independence in 19th century but the state of Croatia exits since 18th century. The history of Croatian flag is also painted with the bloodshed of freedom fighters. Before the independence of Croatia, the flag used as the flag of Croatia since 1848 also contained the strips of same colors as there are in the current flag of Croatia which is: red, white and blue color, but there was no emblem on the flag of Croatia. In 1991, when the Croatia gained independence from the Yugoslavia, some time before the Croatia independence the flag of Croatia was adopted on 21st December 1990.

Before the independence of Croatia, when the Croatia was under the rule of Yugoslavia, the flag used for the identification of Croatia state was approximately same as the current flag of Croatia, with a little difference. There is a coat of arms in the current Croatia national flag but in old flag there was a red color five pointed star in the center of the Croatian flag with yellow border.

The description of the Croatian national flag: the flag of Croatia is made in the proportion of 1:2. There are three horizontal strips on the flag of Croatia. The arrangement of the horizontal strips on the flag of Croatia is: firstly the red color horizontal strip is drawn at the topmost side of the Croatia flag. After the red color horizontal strip, the white color horizontal strip is drawn at the middle of the flag of Croatia. The last most strip of the Croatia flag is of blue color. At the centre of the flag of Croatia, the emblem of coat of arms of Croatia is drawn. The coat of arms is composed of a check pattern chessboard and a crown is placed on the top of the chessboard. The chessboard is made up of 13 red color checks and the 12 white color checks. The crown is of sky blue and black in color.
