Ecuador Flag

The history of the Ecuador flag is very old and has roots in the 18th century. While the coat of arms of the Ecuador has adopted the flag of Ecuador in 19th century. The Ecuadorian flag design is taken from the General Francisco Miranda’s inspiration, who was the liberty combatant of Ecuador. The Venezuela, Colombia and the Ecuador flags are almost same, these three countries had made an amalgamation names, Gran Colombia, when they became independent in 1822. Later on, when the countries become separated and became an individual independent state in 1830, they adopted the same design of flag as there national flag.

A bird is drawn on the flag of Ecuador, which is embedded on the Ecuador flag. The bird name is Andean condor. This is the native bird of the South American, and this bird is also drawn on the coat of arms of Chile, Colombia and the Bolivia flags. The Ecuador flag colors are also painted with the bloodshed of liberty armed services. The national flag of Ecuador was actually adopted on 26th September 1860. While the flag of Ecuador was adopted by the coat of arms on 5th December 1900.

The description of the Ecuadorian flag is simple and not disputable; the flag of Ecuador is made in the proportion of 1:2. There are three horizontal strips on the Ecuadorian flag. The lower two strips are of equal size while the upper one strip is wider than the other two lower strips. The bottom strip on the flag of Ecuador is of red color. The middle strip on the Ecuadorian flag is of blue color and both of these strips, red and blue, are of equal size. While the topmost strip on the flag of Ecuador is of yellow color and the width of this yellow color strip is half of the width of the flag of Ecuador. It means that the yellow strip is drawn in one half while the blue and red strips are drawn on the other half. At the middle of the flag of Ecuador the Ecuadorian coat of arms is drawn. This coat of arms is drawn on the blue and yellow color strip and just touching the red strip from the lower half of the Ecuadorian flag. The coat of arms contains an Andean condor bird that is sitting on the shield of yellow, green, blue and red color. Within the shield some type of scenery is drawn.

The Ecuador flag meaning is also simple and has not any misconceptions; the yellow color in Ecuador flag depicts the fertile soil of the Ecuador and the flourishing land of the Ecuador. The red color on the flag of Ecuador depicts the bloodshed of the freedom fighter, during the war of independence, when they were struggling for the country freedom. And at last the blue color in Ecuador flag gives a picture of the Ecuador sky and the sea.
