Ethiopia Flag

The history of Ethiopia is almost the oldest history because Ethiopia is one of the oldest countries in the world. There is no history of establishment about it. The colors of Ethiopian flag are adopted by many African countries. These colors are also known as Pan-African colors.

The flag of Ethopia has the colours of African unity red, green, yellow. These colors are also seen on oldest African flags. These colors were used for the national flag of Ethiopia in1897. After one year Ethiopia defended itself from colonial Italy at the Battle of Adwa. The three color scheme of Ethopian flag existed since the early 19th century and it became the official banner of the Ethiopian Empire. The royal flag often featured the emblem of a Lion of Judah, a crowned lion carrying a cross centred in the banner's yellow mid-section. The Ethopia flag is also a connection between Ethiopian church, the peoples and the nation and which shows unity between them. The red color at the bottom of three stripes in the Ethiopian flag was reversed in the mid 19th century. The emblem in the middle of the Ethiopian flag was added in 1996. Before 1996, Ethiopia flags used to be plain in different eras, after that different amendments came to the Ethopian flag especially during the Derg regime. A number of different emblems were experimented with the Ethopian flag.

However, the basic colour schematic remained constant. Even the oppressive Derg did not dare to tamper with the colours' layout, but simply removed and changed the imperial emblem after Haile Selassie's overthrow. An alternative coat of arms featuring a five pointed star and rays over a cogwheel surrounded by a wreath of leaves is now the featured emblem. It means the colors of flags of Ethiopia in each era were same; the only changes were made in emblem.

The description of Ethiopian flag is not so long. The current flag of Ethiopia consists of three equal and horizontal strips of green (top), yellow and red. A yellow pentagram and single yellow rays are emanating from the angles between the points on a light blue circle centered on the three stripes. The yellow pentagram on the blue disk, also known as the National Coat of Arms, is a symbol of the current government. This symbol shows desire of the nations and people of Ethiopia, as well as of its religious communities. In different eras there are different schemes of Ethiopian flags in which the colors were same. The picture of Ethiopian flag shows three colors. There were different points of views for these colors but generally: red represents power or African blood spilled in defence of the land; yellow for peace and harmony between Ethiopia's various ethnic and religious groups; green is almost always said to represent the land and its fertility.
The Ethiopia flag coloring pages symbolize different concepts. The color of the pentagram that looks like a star is yellow and it is on a blue disc, which overlaps the green and red stripes. The pentagram(star) shows or symbolize the bright future of Ethopia possibly echoes the connection with the House of King Solomon, the yellow rays which emitting from the pentagram shows the equidistance and are said to represent the equality of all Ethiopians regardless of race, creed, or gender.
