Ghana Flag
The history of the Ghana flag is not very old only has roots in the 19th century. Flag of Ghana had experienced variation at one time, after the independence of the Ghana. The previous Ghana’s flag middle strip was of white color instead of yellow color that is in the current Ghana flag. Actually the Ghana flag was adopted on 6th March 1957, at that time the Ghana gained independence from British monarchy. In the era of 1964 - 1966, the flag of Ghana middle strip was changed to white color. But later on, it was again converted to yellow color. The current flag of Ghana was approved on 28th February 1966. The middle strip was of yellow color in the approval of 1966 Ghana flag. When the Ghana gained independence then the name of the country was also changed, before the independence of Ghana, the name of country was Gold Coast but after independence it changed to Ghana.
The designer of the Ghana flag was Mrs. Theodosia Salome Okoh. The amalgamation was created among Guinea and Ghana via using a flag, which is almost same as the flag of Ghana, but there was a difference that there were two black stars on the flag. That union was held on 23rd November 1958.

The description of the Ghana flag is not controversial or complicated. The Ghana flag is made in the proportion of 2:3. There are three horizontal strips on the flag of Ghana. The topmost horizontal strip on the flag of Ghana is of red color. The lowermost horizontal strip on the Ghana flag is of green color. While the central strip on the Ghana’s flag is of Yellow color. All the three strips on the flag are of equal size, both in length and width of the flag. There is a one five pointed star drawn on the central yellow color strip of the Ghana flag. The star is drawn at the quite center of the flag and the yellow color strip. The color of the star on the Ghana flag is black.
The Ghana flag colors are Pan-African, which are used on most of the African country flags. The Ghana flag symbolizes the African race total. The country which has used these Pan-African colors on their national flag for the first time was the Ghana. Meaning of colors in the flag of Ghana totally depicts the nation and the Ghana country itself. The red color strip on the flag of Ghana depicts the bloodshed of the freedom fighters, which fought and struggle for the freedom of the Ghana. The Yellow color horizontal strip on the Ghana flag depicts the mineral prosperity of the Ghana. While the green color strip on the Ghana flag symbolizes the fertile land of the Ghana and the Ghana’s shrubbery. The five-pointed black color star on the Ghana flag depicts the people of Africa and also the freedom of Africa. The black color is usually used to show the freedom of the whole African nation.
There are many other Ghana flags used in the country except the national flag of Ghana. The other Ghana flags are; Military Ghana flag, Ethnical flags, state flag of Ghana and other political Ghana flags. The black and white flag of Ghana can be seen on the internet, but it is used rarely.
