There is also writing present on the top central part of the National Flag of Indiana and the writing spells out the word Indiana and that is the name of the state as well. This Indiana is written in the yellow color and the font is thin yet big in size. The text is in a sort of semi-circular position and is placed on the top side of the torch that is on the front side of the National Flag of Indiana. The National Flag of Indiana back ground is of plain blue color. The blue is kind of deep navy blue color and the cloth used in making the flag is often of a silky nature. There are a total number of 18 stars present on the National Flag of Indiana. These total 18 stars are present on the National Flag of Indiana are of yellow color. The stars are arranged in a very systematic manner and form a beautiful design all along the flags surface and defined pattern. The pattern is also a very interesting one. They are arranged along the bottom part of the flag and are arranged in the form of two circles, there are 13 stars that appear in the bottom row and formed semi- circular. Then there are 5 stars that are placed is such a way that they made an inner circle and that also give a semi-circle look or shape. The center of the two layers of stars contains a picture of flaming torch. The flaming torch is known for "liberty and enlightenment”.
The 6 rays emerging from the torch are meant to represent the open nature of the two concepts mentioned above. The 13 stars on the outer circle symbolize the 13 original colonies of the United States. The 5 stars of the inner circle symbolize the next 5 states admitted to the Union. The biggest star, placed at the upper part of the torch and below the state name, stands for Indiana as a nineteenth state.
