The National Flag of Indonesia was officially adopted on the 17th of August and the year was 1945. So this makes Indonesia flag a very old one in the history of the flags used by many countries to represent themselves on a worldwide basis. The National Flag of Indonesia was flown for the very first time, as the national flag of the country, on the day when independence was announced for Indonesia. The first National Flag of Indonesia was flown amongst the Japanese forces that were there, who had occupied the country and taken full control of it. It is seen through history that the rulers of the Dutch Colonial times and before that never truly considered the Indonesian country to be an independent one until the year 1949 and the exact date was December 27th. In the year 1922, it is seen again through history that Indonesia’s Flag was used by a group of activists. They used it to gain and show their willingness to fight for their freedom and independence. They used this flag against the Dutch colonial rulers. The second time the flag was used as the National Flag of Indonesia was by the nationalists who were residing on the island of Java and they used the flag to represent the freedom campaign that Indonesia had launched. The National Flag of Indonesia is the one which is designed by the influence of a banner that was flown by the Empire known as the Majapahit Empire.

The design and the colors used in the Indonesia’s Flag are very simple and yet have a very unique meaning and significance. The flag is a rectangular shaped one which is divided into two equal halves. The top half which is also shaped like a rectangular shape is of color red and the bottom half is also shaped like a rectangular and it is of white color. These two halves can also be called horizontal stripes and it is the over all design of the National Flag of Indonesia photo.

The significance of the colors used in the National Flag of Indonesia are also very unique as the colors are used to specifically represent certain aspects related to the history of the country and the nature of the people. The red color used in the top stripe of the National Flag of Indonesia to solely represent the blood shed during the war and the country’s struggle for freedom. Red is also used to symbolize the human body in all its glory. The white is used in the bottom stripe, present on the National Flag of Indonesia, to represent the purity of the soul that exists with a human being. These rows of colors with their meanings when placed together, as they have been on the National Flag of Indonesia, give the symbolism of a complete Human Being. The two colors, as mentioned earlier, have the combined significance to represent the people that helped the country to gain its freedom. The name which is given to this flag in its original language called “Sang Saka Merah Putih" which when translated in to English means exalted bi-color. The proportions of the flag are 2:3 respectively.
