The National Flag of Latvia is one that was officially adopted as the national flag of the country on the 27th of February and the year of that event was 1990, when the people of Latvia got their national symbolic identity. It would not be a wrong statement to say that the flag is not a very old flag. It is seen that the current National Flag of Latvia was used as the National Flag of Latvia when the country was an independent state and that was during the time span of 1918 to the year 1940. The flag is divided into three stripes of which two stripes are of equal width and the middle stripe is of a quite thinner width as compared to the other two upper and lower strips. The top stripe is of the color red that is followed by the color white stripes that is more like a thin strip. The last stripe on the National Flag of Latvia is again of the color red. The design is, as mentioned above, very simple and unique and hence very simple and easy to explain.
