Luxembourg Flag
The Luxembourg National flag is one which comprises of three stripes of which two are of equal width and the third is a lot thinner but not much. The three stripes are distributed along the flag of Luxembourg design in a horizontal pattern and have the colors red, blue and white respectively. The Luxembourg flag was adopted officially as the national flag of the country to represent it self on a world wide basis on June 23, and the year for that happening was 1972. The Luxembourg flag colors is0 greatly influenced by the French flag and therefore has the same type of colors. Luxembourg fought and declared independence from the clutches of Germany in the year 1835 and designed a horizontal flag in the year 1845. The colors of the Luxembourg flag has taken their birth and originate far back from the 13th century and that too from the colors of the coat of arms which is said to be of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The name of the Duke was Count Henry and his time was the VI hence he was called count Henry the VI. It is also seen that the coat of arms is one that featured the picture of a red lion and that was appeared on a field of many lines striped which were of the colors white and blue. Giving an estimation of the status of this flag with the date of its adoption one can easily say that it is considered as an older flag. The flag of Luxemburg has very much resemblance with the flag of Netherlands, except the color shade of blue, having little bit darker shade of blue color in Netherlands flag.
