The official first Malaysian flag design is simple. As there are fourteen narrow horizontal strips on the flag, the strips are painted with red and white colors, and printed in alternate pattern. The topmost strip is of red color, while the lowermost strip is of white color. At the top upper left corner of the Malaysian flag a blue color square is drawn, and the square holds a star and crescent with yellow color, star contains 14 points. The flag of the country Malaysia is said to be one which has a amalgamation of customary Islamic insignia that is crescent and also stripes and the stars in it. The number of stripes was increased as was the number of points on the star, the strips and the points both represent the member states in the federation. In the year 1963 the three states Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore also joint the federation and became member states. There was an increase in the number of points and strips which then became 14 each respectively. The old flag of Malaysia for the Malaya Federation, was almost same as the current flag of Malaysia apart from the star and there were 11 stripes for the 11 Peninsular states or West Malaysia. The flag was altered with the building of Malaysia. The Malaya Federation amalgamated with North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore for the foundation of Malaysia on 16th September 1963. They resolute that the flag must have to change to 14 pointed star and 14 horizontal strips instead of 11. However on 9th august 1965, Singapore left the Federation, while the 14 strips and 14 pointed star design was reserved and used for the national flag of Malaysia, and now depicts the association among the federation and the states. The colors are red and white strips which were 11 and are now a total of 14 in number, the Malaysia flag present day contains a blue square area which is known a blue canton the blue canton on the Flag of Malaysia is said to represent the affiliation with the common wealth. And the dimensions of the Flag of Malaysia are 1:2 respectively. The above stated is what the Malaysian flag represents and can be seen in photos of the Malaysian flag as well.
