North Carolina Flag

The North Carolina flag history is one of the oldest adopted flag histories. As the North Carolina state flag was legitimately accepted on 9th of March and the year for that was 1885. The age of this flag is hence considered to be quite old when kept in comparison with the other flags that are used by other countries to represent themselves worldwide. While the North Carolina gained its position of statehood back on 21st November 1789. On this date the North Carolina was included in the 13 original states that joined the union of United States of America at the very start. It came in the union on 12th number. The other name of the North Carolina is Tar Heel State or the Old North state.

The North Carolina flag is also counted in the simplest flags of the world. The flag of North Carolina is made with the proportion of 3:4. According to the national rules of the flag it is stated that the flag of North Carolina is one that consists of three strips in the flag or it would be better to say that, the flag is dived into three portions. Starting from the hoist side, there is vertical strip that made the hoist part. That vertical strip is of blue color. In the center of the blue color vertical strip a type of union is drawn. In that union two capital letters are written: N and C. Two arc shaped scrolls are drawn facing towards each other making an empty circle from side. Within these scrolls the letter N and C is written, these letters are painted with gilt. The letters are separated with the help of five-pointed star, which is placed between N and C. The color of the star is white.

The fly of the flag shall be such that it contains 2 equally spaced and sized bars the upper bar is of red color and the lower bar is said to be of white color. It is also said that the length of the two spaced bars horizontally shall be equal and that they are to be of perpendicular length of the union. It is also a known fact that the total length of the flag is one-third more than its width. Another rule regarding this flag is that it contains star in the center of the union and gilt in the shape of a scroll in semi-circular form. Scroll should be one that is containing inscription in black letters: "May 20th, 1775," and also another ruling is that below the star a similar inscription or scroll is present on its front side containing black letters like: "April 12th, 1776."

The meaning of the flag is also simple like the flag description. The red, white and blue color used on the flag of North Carolina can be seen on most of the flags of United States, this is because these colors are the united state’s national colors. Obviously the capital letters N and C refers the country name that is North Carolina. While the white color star within the capital letters N and C depicts the statehood position of the North Carolina. While the date 20th May 1775 on the flag depict the important day that is; Mecklenburg independence Declaration.
