Rwanda Flag

The official flag of Rwanda was finally adopted on the 25th of October in the year 2001 and is therefore one of the youngest known flags of a country in the current flags of world. The new Rwanda flag was made in order to replace the old on which had been in use since the year 1961. This is just before the Rwanda won its independence from Belgium on 1st July 1962. The country was long in the clutches of the country Belgium and that was the date that it won its independence. The country, after it won independence and when ethnic violence ravaged the land, wanted to dissociate former flag from the country's genocide of the year 1994 and therefore began to change the design of the flag and adopted this new one in the year 2001.

Describing the Flag of Rwanda history is very simple if anyone ask what the colors that one can use in the flag of Rwanda are then the answer would be simple and that would be, only three colors. In general, the flag of Rwanda consists of three stripes which are equally placed in a little bit of difference in the size only. The top stripe is of the color blue, that is the first stripe, and the middle stripe is of the color Yellow, the last and final stripe on the Rwandan Flag is made of the color Green. The yellow color stripe in the flag of Rwanda and the green color stripe in the flag of Rwanda are both of equal size and shape. In the top most corner on the right hand side in the Blue strip, which is the first stripe, is the Sun of Rwanda made and that sun is seen emitting 25 rays outwards. Like all other flags of the world the Flag of Rwanda information is also comprised of colors that have a very great symbolic value. For example if you take the color of the first stripe that is the color blue it is meant to symbolize happiness and peace of the people of Rwanda after they gained their independence. The second yellow stripe on the flag of Rwanda is also there and it represents the country’s wealth and economic development. Similar to the blue and yellow that is the first and second stripe the green stripe is also there to represent something and that is country’s being blessed with natural resources and prosperity. The sun in the blue, which is the first stripe, symbolizes the unity of the people, the people enlightened and brought out of the darkness of ignorance and seeing the truth and beauty of unity. The proportions of the final flag of Rwanda that was adopted as its national flag are simple and easy to explain as if anyone was to ask at what dimensions is that flag of Rwanda held then it would be simple to explain and tell that it hold the proportions of the following ratios 2:3 respectively. It would also be a very interesting fact to know and remember if any one was to ever ask that who has designed the Rwandan Flag who has given the final design then the answer to that question would be that it was designed by an artist who is of the Rwandan origin and his name is Alphonso Kirimbenecyo.
