Saskatchewan Flag
The Saskatchewan flag history is not that much old, it has roots only dates back in the 19th century. There is also a difference between the Saskatchewan’s flag adoption and the creation of the province Saskatchewan itself, its sufferance is not that much big as compare to the other Manitoba, prince Edwards and many other province. As the Saskatchewan came in the confederation of Canada on 1st September 1905, and emerged as the province of Canada. While in 1906 the royal warrant was granted the coat of arms to the province. But the flag adoption happened approximately after 60 years, which is also a big difference but minor as compare to centuries difference. As the flag of Saskatchewan approved by the officials on 1st march 1969. Later on, some modifications were done in the flag in 1986. The Saskatchewan’s Flag and symbols was last authenticated by an 'Act with regard to Provincial Emblems and Honours' dated 29 June 1988.
There are also some interesting facts about the province Saskatchewan itself. The name of the Saskatchewan is originated from the word kisikatchewanisipi. This word is used for the river of Saskatchewan in Cree Indian. The meaning of the kisikatchewanisipi is swift flowing river. But the province name was shortened for convenience and set as Saskatchewan. So this name was selected for the territories of northwest district in 1882.
The official motto of the Saskatchewan is Multis E Gentibus and it means from may people strength. A competition was held for the designing of the Saskatchewan flag, so from many designs of the Saskatchewan flags one design was selected and based on that design the provincial flag of Saskatchewan was made. That design was made by the Anthony Drake.
