Slovakia Flag

The National flag of the country Slovakia is one which was finally adopted on the 1st of January in the year 1992 therefore it is not considered as a very old flag in the history of the flags that the colors that are used in the current design: white, blue and red color were introduced to the design in the year 1848. This was the time when the country was called Upper Hungary and not Slovakia. It was also the time that Hungary used to rule the country. In the year 1918 Slovakia left Hungary. It joined with the country Bohemia and Moravia and they together formed the Republic called Czechoslovak Republic and also known as Czechoslovakia republic. The Czech Republic split in two halves and that gave rise to the two countries known as Slovakia and the Czech Republic on 1st January 1993. The country was then adopted and controlled by Germany in the time of World War II. In the year 1990, the rule of Germany ended, the third stripe was added and till the freedom and independence restored. It is again seen that in the year 1992 the coat of arms of the country was added to the design of the National flag of Slovakia so that the whole confusion that was being an issue in the rest of the world regarding the recognition of the flags of Russia and Slovakia.

The description of the flag of Slovakia is one which is very unique and very simple it is also one that can be easily explained. The whole flag is divided into three equal sized stripes the first stripe is of the color white the stripe that is after that which forms the middle stripe is of the color blue and the third stripe which makes the final stripe on the Slovak republic flag is of the color red. On the left side of the design as mentioned above is the monogram of the countries national coat of arms, which is a picture of a white patriarchal double cross featured on a red base with a blue colored triple mountain on it. The country’s coat of arms is there present on the flag of Slovakia is there to represent the country’s past link with the country Hungary and that is also a symbol of the Hungarian coat of arms only in a more modified design. The Orthodox Christian faith is represented through the cross that is present on the coat of arms. And the representation of the Tatra, Fatra and Matra mountains is done by the use of the mountains that are made in the coat of arms. Blue white and red are considered to be traditional pan-Slavic colors and were said to have been initially adopted in the middle of the 19th century. The colors are now present in the National flag of Slovakia to symbolize unity and independence. These colors are also found in many other flags of the Slavic Nation. The National flag of Slovakia is one flag that has also been influenced by the flag design of Russia. The proportions of the flag of Slovakia are as follows and hold the ratio 2:3 respectively.
