Venezuela Flag
The official Flag of Venezuela was adopted on the 19th of February in the year 1954. It was in the year 1811 on the 5th of July that Venezuela finally gained its independence from Spain. After Venezuela gained its independence four colonies which were known as Spanish Colonies namely Columbia, Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela joined together to form a federation of states which came to be known as the Greater Columbia. A horizontal striped flag consisting of the colors yellow, blue and red were used for representation by this union. That flag of Venezuela was influenced by a flag used at the end of the 19th century by the independence fighters of Central America. It is seen that even the current flags designed for Columbia, Ecuador and Venezuela are based on that flag design. However, when Venezuela left that federation which seems to have taken place in the year 1829 was when Venezuela adopted a different designed horizontal flag which consisted of the same colors yellow, blue and red. It is seen that the basic design of the Venezuelan flag has remained the same with only a few modifications here and there. In the year 1954 the flag of Venezuela saw its last modification when the addition of the coat of arms was made.
