Zambia Flag
The official Zambian flag was adopted finally on the 24th of October and the year for that was 1964. It is therefore considered to be an old flag when kept in comparison with the various different flags that are used by different countries to represent themselves on a worldwide basis. The flag of Zambia has gone through a certain degree of modification where its design was concerned during the time that the country fought for independence from the country Britain. Britain had the country Zambia in its clutches for a very long time. They fought and won their freedom and thus became an independent state. Once they gained their independence the country then known as Zambia and not as what it was called before Northern Rhodesia. When the country won its independence they then adopted their own unique coat of arms and that is the eagle. The monogram of the eagle which is on the Zambian flag is of orange color and is influenced from the Zambian coat of arms. That was added to the Zambian flag design after the independence in the year 1996.

The design and the Zambian flag colors are both very unique and very simple the colors used are very similar to many other flags that are used by different countries especially in the European continent. If anyone wants to ask as to what the design and the coloration of the Zambian flag are the answer to that question would be very simple and that would be simple design and five colors. The base of the flag of Zambia is, as mentioned above, of the green color and it is a rectangular shaped base. On the bottom part of the right side of the flag of Zambia, three equal sized stripes are present which are placed in a vertical angle. The three stripes are of the following colors: the stripe on the far left hand side is of the color Red. The stripe on the far right hand side is of the color orange and the middle stripe that is present on the Zambian flag is of the color black. The significance of the colors used and the designing of the small flag of Zambia are also very unique but easy to tell about. The green color at the base is used there to represent how right the land is from the vegetative point of view.
The black color is used in the middle stripe to represent people of Zambia and the red color in the first stripe is used to represent the whole struggle and blood shed that took place as a result of their fight for freedom. The orange color in the stripes is used to represent the country’s natural mineral wealth that the soil has, in particular the abundance of Copper. The eagle monogram on the flag is taken from the country’s coat of arms as mentioned above and is also a symbol for Freedom. It is an interesting factor to note about the flag of Zambia that it is by law only allowed that the flag be flown while the sun is up and then taken down after the sun sets. The proportions of the flag of Zambia are 2:3 respectively. One can find lots of information about Zambia flag, its culture, weather, geography etc on internet for free.
